Year 4

Our Learning

During science week we investigated which invertebrates we could find around school.

On Thursday 7th November 2019, we joined together as a year group to practice our column subtraction skills as part of Outdoor Learning Day.

As part of our English work this term we acted out the story of The Knight’s Tale.

On Tuesday 12th November we held a gallery in the hall to show all of our homework projects to our friends and families.

We have been busy rehearsing for our Christmas production, ‘Lights, Camel, Action’ this week.
Year 4 enjoyed watching a film in their pyjamas as part of their reward afternoon.

On Wednesday 27th November, Year 4 enjoyed an adventure to and around Canterbury. We looked at many statues and buildings around Canterbury that are referred to in ‘The Canterbury Tales’ and also looked round The Beaney Museum.

In science week, we have been learning about our teeth and how we can look after them. We enjoyed looking inside our mouths to see what type of teeth we have.

We have set up an experiment to see what will happen to the inside of the hard boiled eggs that are in different liquids.

On Tuesday 21st January 2020, year 4 had a Viking Day where we dressed up as Vikings and did lots of activities linked with our topic. We made Viking bread, brooches, learnt how to write in Viking runes and acted out a Viking battle.

In our PSHE lessons we have been thinking about our dreams and goals and how we can achieve them. This week we discussed coping with disappointment and did some drama surrounding these ideas.

During Science week we looked at states of matter and did lots of experiments to investigate how change happen between different states.
During maths lessons this week we have been exploring how we calculate the area of shapes and we even used biscuits to help us understand this.
